Emily's story
Emily finds that working and gaining qualifications at the same time really suits her hectic lifestyle. She loves working in the hospitality industry, and hopes to run her own restaurant or bar one day. Her manager James is impressed with her progress.
Emily
Hi, my name's Emily, and I work at Café Rouge at St Paul's Place. I've just completed my Level 1 NVQ Food and Drinks Service and I'm looking forward to moving onto my Level 2.
I started work at Café Rouge about a year ago now, and I gained the opportunity to gain some qualifications whilst I was at work.
This really suited my lifestyle, as I've got a very hectic life and working and gaining qualifications at the same time really helped.
Some of the skills I've been able to learn on my NVQ course are: customer service, complaint handling and equality and diversity.
Ever since I started in this job I realised that talking to customers and helping people has to be one of my main passions in life, and taking that into account, hospitality I really think is an industry I can really see myself working in. And maybe I can aspire to running my own restaurant or bar one day.
James
My name's James. I'm the manager at Café Rouge. Having an employee such as Emily studying a vocational course has been a true asset. It's broadened her knowledge. She's been truly committed, and through the training she's received it's highlighted her true strengths. She's become the team trainer and we're now hoping to progress her further and hopefully promote her in the future.
