Vocational education
 for employers

Did you know...

If you want to give your staff the skills they need for work, vocational education might be for you!

The government is currently transforming the education system for 14-19-year-olds. In line with these plans, schools and colleges are developing new work-related learning pathways to give young people the skills, knowledge and experience that will help prepare them for work, further education or training.

What is vocational education?

Vocational education is a set of work-related subjects and courses you can study in school, college, at a training centre or in the workplace.

Vocational qualifications are practical, skill-based qualifications which relate directly to specific industries such as manufacturing, catering or business.

What's in it for me?

As an employer, you can benefit greatly from recruiting young people with vocational qualifications. In fact, many vocational qualifications have been designed with the help of employers just like you, so they give young people the up-to-date skills and knowledge you are looking for.

Vocational qualifications are nationally recognised - just like GCSEs and A levels - and they help prepare young people for the world of work.

But don't just take our word for it! Visit our case studies page to find out what local employers have to say about vocational education and the ‘voc ed‘ students they've employed.

You've got my attention! How can I get involved?

As an employer, there are a number of ways you can support vocational education and learning.
